For the 7th consecutive year, and despite the political and economic turmoil that the country is facing, BETA, once again, walks the whole nine yards in animal welfare and gives a new meaning to the famous saying “When there is a will there is a way”, and that when a good bunch of people have a dream, they rest not until they see it manifested and fulfilled.
On the night of the 19th of September, the walls of the Sursock Palace Gardens were dressed in the colors of this year’s theme of BETA’s annual Gala Dinner, “I have a Dream”.
And to a full house of animal lovers, Ms. Helena Hesayne, the vice president of BETA, explained in fewer than 5 minutes how dreaming is the main driving force that allowed the organization to get where it is now.
“The challenges we face on daily basis are often debilitating, but our love for the animals reinforced by our passion and hard work, along with the support of animal lovers such as yourselves, allow us to continue our mission and keep dreaming, and dreams do come true, not by miracle, but they do happen with sweat and effort.”
And with what became a yearly awaited custom, the guests watched a documentary that showcased, in few heartwarming minutes, the efforts and activities of BETA in the year 2014, and all the attendees applauded in admiration to the bravery of the volunteers who put their lives on the line to bring every rescue mission to a happy ending.
The gala dinner was covered by the media and press and hosted a number of prominent officials and public figures such as former Minister Mr. Selim Jreissai, Deputy Mr. Simon Abi Ramia, the Deputy of French people abroad Mr. Alain Marsaud, represented by Miss Fabienne B-A as well as H.E. Ms. Hester Somsen Ambassador for the Netherlands, H.E. Ms. Cécile Longé Consul of France, H.E. Mr. Ricardo S. Larriera Ambassador for Argentina and H.E. Mr. Marcelo Villan Consul for Argentina.
